About Us
The Rising Stars Theater Troop is a great experience for young people, it allows students to incorporate improvisation, character development, storyline development, concept visualization, and creative problem solving.  Director Tom Logan guides his students to find their own solutions and to rely on each other.  The bonding and team work create a unity in this group that is unique among student groups and organization. The trust created between the students is one of the reasons for the success of this group.  Former Rising Stars students have gone on to perform in many theatrical productions in high school and college. These motivated and successful kids have achieved a broad range of higher educational goals.
  • The Rising Stars is a theater troop for grades 6-9 and is part of the Bloomfield Recreation Department, and based at Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills.
  • The Rising Stars have been performing in the Birmingham/Bloomfield Area for fourteen years and are led by Thomas Logan a veteran performer and director of Detroit and Oakland County Theater.
  • The Rising Stars are meant to introduce and develop all facets of theater for young people, drama, comedy and musicals including a touring show in the Fall and mentoring opportunites for seasoned students.
  • The Rising Stars participate in Set Painting, Props, Lighting, Sound and students at the advanced levels may participate as assistant directors.
  • The Rising Stars is a youth troop for the serious student of theater, utilizing discipline and a sense of team spirit to achieve fully realized stage productions.
  • A Rising Stars student is awarded honor points based on achievements and mentoring during each term.  The student can earn awards such as Player of the Term, Rookie of the Term, The Director's Award and Top Five Monologues.
